DLOV 2026 Candidate Endorsement Process

The Democratic Latino Organization of Virginia (DLOV) invites Democratic candidates appearing on the November 3, 2026, ballot to participate in our endorsement process.

DLOV supports candidates who champion Democratic values and demonstrate a strong commitment to Virginia’s Latino communities, especially immigrants and working families. We seek leaders who understand the challenges and opportunities facing Latinos across the Commonwealth and who will work with our communities to advance equity, inclusion, justice, and opportunity for all Virginians.

Our endorsement process is also the beginning of a meaningful partnership. Candidates who engage with DLOV open the door to an ongoing relationship with our board and members—and to focused, meaningful engagement with Latino voters across Virginia.

Choose How You Would Like to Participate

Candidates may participate in one of two ways:

Option 1: Complete the Candidate Questionnaire

The questionnaire allows candidates to share their backgrounds, values, policy positions, plans for engaging Latino communities, and commitment to addressing the issues affecting Latinos throughout Virginia.

Questionnaires include:

• Core questions asked of candidates across offices; and

• Office-specific questions tailored to the responsibilities of the office being sought.

Option 2: Participate in a Candidate Panel Conversation

In lieu of completing the written questionnaire, candidates may participate in a 30-minute virtual conversation with a panel of DLOV board members.

Candidate conversations will be scheduled on a rolling basis as requests are received. Conversations may take place during the workday or after work hours and will be scheduled based on the availability provided by the candidate and participating board members.

Candidates must submit the scheduling form by Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Conversations may be scheduled through September 18.

Important Dates

• Priority questionnaire deadline: Friday, September 11, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. ET. Email completed questionnaires to dlovacct@gmail.com.

• Final day to request a panel conversation: Friday, September 11, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. ET

• Candidate conversations: Scheduled on a rolling basis through September 18

• Questionnaire review: Week of September 14

• Candidate notification: By Wednesday, September 23

• Tentative public announcement: Thursday, September 24

To be considered for inclusion in DLOV’s September endorsement announcement, candidates must submit either a completed questionnaire or the panel-conversation scheduling form by the September 11 priority deadline.

Questionnaires submitted after September 11 will still be considered for endorsement on a rolling basis, but those candidates may not be included in the September announcement. September 11 is the final day to request a panel conversation during this endorsement cycle.

Our Review Process

DLOV’s Endorsement Subcommittee will review each candidate’s questionnaire responses or conduct the requested panel conversation. The subcommittee will then make recommendations to the DLOV Executive Board, which will make the final endorsement decisions.

Candidates may be contacted if additional information or clarification is needed. All candidates considered during the September review period will be notified of DLOV’s decision before the public announcement.

Confidentiality

Candidate questionnaire responses and panel conversations will remain confidential. DLOV will not publicly quote, attribute, or share a candidate’s responses without first obtaining the candidate’s permission.
